Have you watched a romantic Bollywood movie recently? What was the story? Guy falls for a girl. The girl doesn’t fall back in love with the guy. Guy takes it as a challenge and starts chasing after her, essentially stalking her. Girl realizes that the guy truly loves her, why? Because of all his chasing skills, DUH! Same story, different characters, different location. That’s how it goes. And no, we are not saying that it’s only the guys who chase the girls. In some movies, there are girls who chase after guys too.

The release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has got mixed reviews from everyone. The agony of the broken heart has been portrayed time and again by various actors in various movies, even before Ae Dil Hai Mushkil came into existence. Bollywood seems to be by fascinated by the pain of a broken, shattered heart and we can only wonder when is it that Bollywood will move away from this topic that has been told time and again by a bunch of different directors.

The thing that seems to stump everyone is the fact that throughout the movie, Anushka Sharma’s character keeps rejecting Ranbir Kapoor’s character, and he is just too stubborn or childish even, to accept it. But this isn’t the first time that such a storyline has been portrayed in the film industry. Take Sonam Kapoor and Dhanush’s Ranjhana for instance. Dhanush’s character is madly in love with Sonam’s character and would do anything to get her. Even go to the extent of driving the both of them into the river on finding that she loves someone else. Albeit, Sonam’s character was an ass in the movie, that still doesn’t justify what he did.

We are not saying that there aren't any good movies made in Bollywood these days. But movies that do not hold love as the center of attraction are very rare and can be counted on the tips of your finger. We are not saying that people should stop making romantic movies. But at least make a movie that has a different story, maybe?

Somewhere in this process, we are at fault too. We fail to understand great movies when they are made, criticize them to the maximum of our extent. Love stories are like a safety net for Bollywood. No matter how many crappy movies they make, in the name of experimenting, they know we will eat it right out of their hand.

Hollywood is upping their game with movies based on real life like Sully or movies like Inferno and Doctor Strange; it is time Bollywood did the same and leave us and all the love stories a rest for a little while.

People, it is NOT OK to stalk a person. Pursuing and stalking are two different things and the latter does not mean it is ‘true love’. It is a violation of the other person’s right. And stalking someone will only get you hatred from them and possible jail time.

Bollywood’s love for love stories will never fade. But, one should also be thinking about the type of message to send out to people. There are people who take Bollywood very seriously and try to enact the exact way in real life. It is time Bollywood realize that no means no. Chasing after someone and stalking someone is not the way love works.

  1. Short Skirts In School:
In the movie ‘Student of the Year’, Alia Bhatt is seen throughout the movie in short skirts and off shoulder dresses, during SCHOOL TIME. In reality, we are punished if we wear anything apart from our uniform to school. Wearing off shoulder dresses, short skirts, or shorts to school will probably get us thrown out.
  1. Unrealistic Love Life Expectations:
We have grown up watching Shahrukh Khan Movies and needless to say, he is the king of romance. But, the way Shahrukh woos his lady love can only happen in movies. You cannot just walk up to a total stranger and make them fall in love with you, in less than a minute. Nope. WARNING: Don’t try this. You might end up getting slapped!
  1. Synchronized Dance Steps:
Flash mob is a thing but that doesn’t mean you can break out into a dance step at a public place and everyone will start dancing in a synchronized manner with you. They will probably look at you like you are a lunatic. You don’t want that to happen to you now, do you?
  1. Telling Your Life Story To A Stranger:
Imagine this: you see a stranger looking at you from across the dance floor. You call him towards you, seductively. You two start dancing like crazy, and a few drinks later you are sharing your life story with them. Now I’m not saying that cannot happen. We are all perfect strangers in the beginning, but the sharing of life story part usually happens over a few days or few weeks.
  1. Dancing In Snow:
This might probably be the stupidest expectation on the list. No one can dance in the snow in skimpy clothes and not get chilled to their bones. It is highly impossible and fair warning; don’t ever try to do this. The actors probably have blankets and heaters waiting for them when the director shouts cut.
  1. Fairytale Love Story:
So many times we have wished that our boyfriend/better-half make us a nice romantic dinner or take us for a surprise vacation to Rome or just sit with us through a romantic movie without making a fuss. Sorry girls, that doesn’t happen in real life. Just like we cannot sit through an action movie, don’t expect your guy to sit through a romantic movie.
  1. Hair Goals:
How many times have we wondered if we can go for a bike ride or for a long drive in an open-roof car and step out of it without looking like we have just woken up? Sorry to burst your bubble on this one, but that’s not something that happens in real life. We will probably end up getting tanned and with dirt in our hair.
  1. Train Stations And Airports Chase:
Case in point: Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. When Jai runs into the airport to stop Aditi from boarding the flight, all of us wished someone did the same for us. Do not do it! I repeat DO NOT DO IT!  You are more likely to be thrown into jail for running into an airport and be labeled as a terrorist.
  1. Zero Studies:
Case in point: Aamir Khan in 3 Idiots or Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar or Dil Chahta hai. We cannot pass any of our exams without studying for them. More likely we will fail terribly in the exams and then be thrown out on our classes.
  1. Travel Goals:
We cannot just get up one morning and decide to go on a road trip with our friends. As exciting as unplanned road trips sound, there are a lot of factors to be considered when planning a vacation, especially when we are on a budget.

Deepika Padukone is a well loved actress in India as well as overseas. She is often seen in the news for her on-screen presence like bagging role in Hollywood movies as well as off-screen giving us crazy relationship goals. Deepika, born in Copenhagen and brought up in Bangalore, Padukone belongs to a sports background. Her father, Prakash Padukone is a well known badminton player of international repute. Deepika had an affinity towards sports in early years. She played badminton in national level championship and state level baseball championship. However, she left her sports life behind to become a model and has never looked back since then. After her initial struggles in the film industry, she is now a well established actress with films like Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani, Piku, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Chennai Express, Om Shanti Om, Cocktail and so on in her bag. Soon, she will be seen opposite Vin Diesel in the movie xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. Amongst other things Deepika adopted the Maharashtrian village of Ambegaon as part of NDTV's Greenathon Campaign, to provide village with a regular supply of electricity. Deepika broke all stereotypes when she came out openly about being diagnosed with depression when she was at the peak of her career. Accepting the fact that you are depressed and openly coming out on a public platform takes a lot of courage, and we applaud you for that Deepika. You have been and will always be a super star that we have come to know and love over the years.

Are you as ready as Kareena Kapoor was for the big change? Kareena Kapoor has often been mentioned in the media for her competitive nature towards her career, which is probably also the reason for her success. Kareena’s name has often come up regarding her choice in films, characters and boyfriends. These references to her have also been the cause of rumors that label her as an insecure person. However, Kareena Kapoor Khan has been in the news a lot recently and for completely opposite reasons. The media reports paint her to be a much more carefree, mature and secure person now. Surprising, isn’t it? It makes us wonder – ‘What changed?’ Kareena attributes all her new found contentment, happiness and glow to her hubby, Saif Ali Khan. She is found gushing about Saif in all her interviews and even mentions her new family with affection. The Nawab of Pataudi is not behind in praising his wife and seems equally content in life. He is known for making sure that his wife is truly being treated like a Begum. Beyond everything though, a fact many seemed to have missed, is that Kareena did not marry until she was absolutely ready for it. She didn’t get married to any of her boyfriends in a rush, she didn’t get married simply because it was the right age and she definitely did not let the society pressure her into doing so. She married Saif after a good five-year courtship, including a living-in period. Many people were annoyed by this live-in phase, especially because of the difference in their castes. However, Bebo being Bebo, went ahead with her decision unperturbed. Turns out, she was perfectly right! Begum Kareena Kapoor Khan is now happily married to Nawab Saif Ali Khan with a baby on the way! If you haven’t heard yet, Kareena Kapoor Khan will be delivering in December and the couple is really excited for this new arrival. However, Kareena will not stop working even after this pregnancy. In fact, she already has projects lined up for the period after her delivery. And she has the full support of her loving husband and her mother-in-law, Sharmila Tagore. After all, when three pregnancies couldn’t stop her quintessential mother-in-law, why should it stop her? It seems that marriage has not only changed Kareena Kapoor’s name, but has also changed her as a person and for the better! We are definitely impressed. Aren’t you? So are you too really ready to make your own path, declare your own style statement and move on with this big change in your life? Explore your inner Begum with elegant and beautiful dresses from Naaris.

Twinkle Khanna a.k.a Mrs. Funnybones is not only a fine bollywood actor but also a brilliant newspaper columnist, author and an interior designer. Her book – ‘Mrs Funnybones’ was published last year by Penguin India which got some amazing reviews and was also ranked in Hindustan Times’ best non-fiction chart. She also writes columns for The Times of India and Daily News and Analysis. Twinkle has a marvelous sense of interior designing and we know that because we have seen it! We had dinner at the Kumar’s once, NOT. Jokes apart, we saw it on the internet and some fashion magazines which featured her incredible work. She recently designed Rani Mukherjee’s new house too and it looks F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S! Twinkle Khanna loves jewellery and her idea of happiness is riding a scooter in shorts and kurta in Goa. Well, she’s pretty much like us except for the fact that she’s married to the handsome hunk - Akshay Kumar. So jealous ! Apart from having a funny bone, Twinkle has an amazing taste in fashion too. Wow! Is there anything this woman can’t do?  Here are some of the times she showed us how fusion is done right. Twinkle has shown us that a woman should never stop dreaming and learning. We should keep on trying new things which will not only help us all evolve but will also carve us into strong independent women. A marriage is just a change in your relationship status and that shouldn’t affect your career or kill your passion. Thanks for the lesson, T!
